Description Design

Open, light and transparent: this is our new psychiatry building. A long-cherished wish has come true: a new building for the University Center for Psychiatry (UCP).

In the new UCP building, the well-being and recovery of patients are central. ‘UCP employees have helped think about how a new building can best meet the needs of patients and work processes’, says department head Robert Schoevers. ‘This has resulted in an open, light and transparent building that simultaneously offers sufficient peace and privacy.’

Waking up with the rising sun.

When designing the patient rooms in the closed ward, careful consideration was given to how the building can optimally contribute to the recovery of patients. ‘It is not without reason that the rooms face east, so that patients wake up with the rising sun’, says Schoevers. ‘There are also many opportunities for exercise, including two low-noise sports halls. And the green outdoor areas invite you to go outside often - in complete privacy.’
